Ekaterina, it is great to see you in Armenia. What are your impressions of our country and how do you feel in the city of Jermuk?

It always feels good to be in Armenia. I have wanted to visit Jermuk for a long time, and I’m glad that I did it now.

The experts say you haven’t managed to show your best game lately. We hope you will do your best in Jermuk showing the beautiful style characteristic of your play. What would you like to change see once again in your play?

I would like to return not the game itself, but to the preparatory phase of the game. Unfortunately, now there is no opportunity to do so.

What is the main goal you have set for yourself for this tournament?

Just to play for fun and however many points I score, I’ll take it.

Who is the favorite of this tournament among participants for you?

Of course Hou Yifan, but in fact there are no weak players.

What would you identify as the most important traits in a person? How do you envision the world champion?

I value highest sincerity and goodwill, but for the sportsman these features are superfluous. I envision the World Champion most of all as a creative chess player.
